You can simply substitute the pork and dried mussels with other meat (chicken or prawn). For this recipe, I diced the pork in cube sizes and presoak the dried mussels (don't ask me where to buy that - my mom bought it for me).

1. Stir fry some garlic until it smells nice.
2. Put in the pork and mussels, stir until it is half cooked.
3. Pour some dark and sweet soy sauce (kecap Bango is recommended) and bit of water.
4. Cover the pan and let it simmer.
5. Check every few minutes. It's done when the meat has been fully cooked and the sauce has thicken.

If you like garlic, you can smashed some garlic bulbs and put it in together with water and simmer. Another nice combination is chicken and potatoes .. *yummmm*
For potatoes, be sure to cut it into smaller pieces as it will take longer to soften.

Serve with rice, steamed veggies and some sambal (sambal terasi)

Honey Bean Pasta

 honeybeanshoot
Originally uploaded by Meexia.
Yay my first post! Sorry, I really2 haven't cooked something nice for a long time. I found (made) this recipe by accident, and it was so good I couldn't stop licking my plate and pan heehee

Ingredients:
1 portion of Pasta - I used Salmon Ravioli, but I think any pasta is okay
A handful of green bean
A few spoons of thickened cream
1 tablespoon of honey
Cut garlic

How to Cook:
Boil pasta.
Cook the rest in seperate pan.
Put some butter into the pan, fry the green beans (cut into small pieces beforehand).
Put some cut garlic in (I usually use the cut garlic in a jar, easy and can be even better than fresh ones =b)
Keep frying it for about 5 minutes, until beans cooked and softer.
Pour in the thickened cream, honey, and salt.
Let it simmer for a minute, and pour it all over the pasta.

Try it, you won't regret it ;)

Instant Noodle Pancake :)

Few days ago, I had nothing to do at home and decided to cook *again* :)
So I came up with my old time fave.. The ingredients are quite simple and the methods are about the same with cooking okonomiyaki that has been taught by my Japanese friends back when I was in China.

Ingredients:
2 Eggs
half cup of frozen veggies mix
a pack of instant noodle (break it into smaller pieces)
flour

Method:
1. Boil water and cook instant noodle and frozen veggies.
2. Drain and set aside.
3. Mix flour with water then mix well with eggs.
4. Put instant noodle and veggies into the flour mixture and season with salt and pepper. Mix well.
5. Use a bit of oil/butter and heat the frying pan.
6. Pour a bit of the mixture into the frying pan (Depending on the thickness that you want)
7. Serve with either mayo and bulldog sauce or chilli sauce.

I like thick one with mayo and bulldog sauce or thin and crispy pancake with chilli sauce.. Yummm...

La Pasta

This time, it is an experiment with a well known products in Australian supermarkets : La Pasta from San Remo. So I bought a pack of La Pasta - Chicken and Mushroom here to rekindle my cooking times back in Melbourne :P and got a chance to tried it out last weekend.

I didnt have an oven or cream so I omitted that part. It turned out as a shocking experience for me as I've never tried following a real pasta recipe before other than lasagna so I was a bit shocked on how much liquid is required in the recipe, I reduced it by 1/2 cup but it still turned out OK.

The verdict: not too bad but I would prefer to try another variety next time. Was it because I didnt follow the exact recipe? I wouldnt know but the mushroom taste is purely MSG in my opinion.

French Onion Soup

Ok this doesnt look as good as the pics taken by Chan but I tried my best.

My first posting here is a simple yet sophisticated soup ;) and recipe is as follow:

Ingredients:
5-6 onions (sliced)
1-1.5 lt beef stock
2 tbsp sugar
200ml red wine
butter

Method:
1. Boil and reduce beef stock to its one third
2. In another pan, melt butter and stir fry sliced onion. It will take quite long because we have to wait until the onion turns from pale yellow to clear and transparent color.
3. Sprinkle sugar to onion and mix well, let it caramelized but dont let it burn.
4. Add wine to the beef stock and let it boil.
5. Pour the onion into the beef stock and let it simmer for another 15-20 mins.
6. Just cut the chicken breasts in cubes, use some garlic, mixed that with sweet soy sauce (kecap ABC), chilli (cabe rawit), salt, and pepper for maybe 15 minutes.

After that, put some oil in frying pan, make it hot .. fried the chicken breasts, until it looked like golden brown. Then, add a spoon of oyster sauce, and fish sauce. Mixed that.

Then, add the canned mushrooms. Maybe it's better to buy products from ma ling (chinese product), and find one that has been chopped, so it make you easily to cook (lazy cook here actually :P).

mixed that chicken and mushrooms, make it about 5-10 minutes .. put a small cup of water, and taste that for the taste. Better to have the sweet taste.

And, dont forget to turn off the fire after you cooking :)

different angle from my cooking of chicken rice

different angle of my chicken rice
Originally uploaded by kl4nis.
This is my first posting for the yummy house. I feel .. nervous!!!! JOJO pushed me a lot to do posting first. (so after this, I'll 'encourage' her haha --> grinning)

well, it's only a simple cooking of chicken rice and chilli soy sauce. I will not list all the ingredients and how to make, but instead of that .. i will let your imagination to consider what ingredients i put for cooking this, and the steps i did to make.

well .. it's actually not that hard. At least, what you will need is a bunch of time to skewer the whole chicken for chicken rice. It should be nice to make small skewer of chicken, so it will mix nice with the rice. And I am much sure you will be enjoying time to skewering the chicken so small :)

so well done then .. hopefully you want to try that .. :)

Welcome

Hi..

Welcome to our lil corner where we proudly present simple but yummy recipes from our kitchens to the world :)
